A professional and thorough report is the best way to record and communicate the fair market value for your classis.  Your appraisal will include a separate report that excludes my valuation conclusion, your personal information, etc.  This abbreviated report can be used if you ever sell your classic.  A neutral third party report on your vehicle is exactly what others will need be it insurance, estate planning, resale, etc.  These reports are always kept confidential unless you authorize distribution or if I am subpoenaed by a court of law.  Your privacy is of the utmost importance to me and I will not ever divulge that I appraised your classic.  A typical appraisal report will be 30+ pages and consist of identification, inspection observations, comparable, a worksheet that shows how I arrived at the fair market value, and a photo gallery.  The report is intended to tell the story of your car using qualified data and opinions.
